The BLOND Facial Steamer takes the form of a wall-mounted mirror, and was designed using where possible, exclusively Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The research project, showcased at DOUBLE VISION during Milan Design Week 2025, aimed to provoke discussion around the inevitable advancement of AI within the creative industries and give a glimpse of how the future of AI in design, may look. The result is a refined alternative to conventional countertop steamers, offering a streamlined and practical addition to daily grooming routines.
The project examined shaving as a case study, where facial steaming proves effective in softening the skin for a smoother, more comfortable shave. When studying the market, conventional facial steamers are often cumbersome—demanding countertop space and adequate storage—factors which discourage regular use and investment. The AI workflow was showcased at DOUBLE VISION during Milan Design Week 2025—outlining the entire digital process across eight screens. In this example, we leveraged ComfyUI to generate a wide range of colour, material and finish (CMF) iterations. A full case study of the exhibition can be found here.



The resulting design is a wall-mounted facial steamer that seamlessly integrates into daily grooming routines, eliminating the need for additional space and setup time. By incorporating the diffuser directly into the mirror frame—positioned at face level with a pivoting mechanism—the design prioritises efficiency and ergonomics, preventing awkward posture during use.



The mirror also features a built-in shelving unit, providing practical, compartmentalised storage for essentials such as razors and toothbrushes. The unit discretely houses the battery compartment and water tank, maintaining a clutter-free, sophisticated appearance within the bathroom. The water tank’s large aperture serves as both a convenient handle and quick refill solution. The pillowed frame, enveloping the mirror and shelving unit, offers expanded spatial capacity, enabling seamless integration of essential functional components.




Leveraging AI to explore colours, materials, and finishes led to unexpected outcomes. As a result, the design combines bright yellow, high-gloss plastic with an anodised aluminum frame, creating a playful yet refined aesthetic language.
