Portable table lamps often crowd dining tables and block sightlines across the room. In early 2024, we created a concepts pitch for a leading Danish furniture and lighting company, led by Parasol—a slender portable light designed for intimate dining settings and small-space living. Inspired by the bold geometries, faded palettes, and optimistic spirit of British seaside culture, Parasol’s altered proportions project a soft pool of light downwards without visual clutter. By housing standard rechargeable battery cells inside a low-cost stock aluminium stem, the result is an ultra-thin, space-efficient fixture with a lowered centre of gravity and a minimal footprint.
