Impressed by our design sensibilities and ability to find new opportunities for their home appliance technologies, Chinese multinational Haier has partnered with Blond to design white goods products. Projects have ranged from high to low-end, and conceptual to market-ready products. At the higher end, we’ve been asked to think outside the box, and conduct user research (in South East Asia, as well as Mainland China) to explore new functions that support desired user behaviours. Digesting this research into a clear design strategy has enabled us to unlock new values and functions that Haier can own, delivering product concepts with a unique position in the competitive home appliance market. At the lower end, we’ve helped them style low-cost products by maximising techniques to reduce manufacturing costs while delivering as premium a look and feel as possible.
